Object Description
Textile in slit tapestry; diagonal bands with repeat motif of four faces around cross design, dark brown, tan camelid, or black, brown, tan (all 2s-plied) on white cotton ground (s-2z). Between diagonal bands are Horizontal stripes of magenta, pink, green, yellow camelid (all 2s-plied, 40 epcm.) and brown and white cotton (2s-plied, 34 epcm.). Warp selvage overcast with heavy cotton cord which serves as warp for tubular weft-faced edge of magenta camelid. Along one side of piece is stitched remains of second similar fabric. One warp, two weft selvages. Warp: cotton, (z-2s), 6 epcm.
