Object Description
Slit tapestry textile. Primarily a slit tapestry structure with vertical zigzag design motifs and diamond shape faces. The usually rigid tapestry warp wale continually upset by warps diverting out of normal vertical alignment. Warps begin vertical, shift to short diagonal alignment, then pick up different vertical track. Eccentric wefts cover diagonal warp area, used in the faces to outline eyes. Only 1 existing selvage, side selvage w/paired warps. Warp: natural color cotton. Weft: brown camelid w/some natural cotton cross-knit looping attached: light blue, dark blue, gold, brown, white camelid.
