Object Description
Grave marker constructed from a 1-1 open plainweave white cotton cloth (34 x 15 cm.) painted on one side with red and blue pigment. A frontal human figure framed by a rectangular border with geometric and wave(?) motifs. Cloth folded and seamed together on back side with heavy cotton cord (z-2s) to form a bag; stuffed with split canes. Bottom edge incomplete; canes poke through. One warp, two weft selvages. Warp: white cotton, (z), 9 epcm. Weft: white cotton, (z), 7 epcm.
