Object Description Wampum ornament. This is a group of 4 strings of wampum beads tied together at one end. Both purple and white beads are present and one of the strings is tipped with a piece of green cloth and a second with a piece of burlap. The lengths of the four strings are 55.6 cm (free end unornamented), 44.0 cm (free end ornamented with burlap), 53.0 cm (free end ornamented with green cloth), and 43.0 cm (free end forms a small loop, probably a repair). The strings are tied together to form a single string without beads with extends some 20 cm beyond the knot. The piece has a maximum overall length of 77.0 cm. The length of the wampum beads varies from 5-8 mm and their diameter from 2-3 mm.
