Written on board: "Huichol / Mexico / Jalisco / 40-88 / N30394 H8115"; Typed caption on mount: "The leader of the 'Peyoteros' presents the singing shaman with the first fresh / peyote plant at the 'Feast of Hikuli' at Pochotita. Afterwards the other / participants in the annual peyote pilgrimage do likewise. To the rear is the / temple to 'Our Father Sun' (ta-yau-ririkieza) one of the most important of / the more than 100 Huichol dieties. / Many live plants are brought back from the peyote pilgrimage and / replanted to have on hand for this feast."
