Descriptions
Object Description Written on board: "California / Crandall, Pasadena / See over / [verso] Prof. A. L. Kroebe with compliments of H. N. Rust. / Bowls from 14 to 20 inches wide and about 15 inches deep / (in newsprint) A gentleman by the name of Hunt, living about a mile south of San Fernando, recently made a very important archaelogical find, his plow striking the treasures while he was plowing. Major Horation N. Rust, of this city, has secured the entire find, consisting of twenty-one huge bowls chiseled out of solid sand stone. It is expected that we will be able to publish a halftone engraving of these curios in our next issue, when we will give as full a description of them as possible. When the American people are searching the ruins of Pompei for lost art treasures, they are entirely overlooking the very rich home field, it would seem."
