Object Description Brocaded ceremonial sash. Hopi, 1892, of plain weave white cotton s-spun 4-ply warp with weft of 4-ply black and green and 3-ply red s-spun wool and white and indigo z-spun single-ply wool. Two panels with brocade at one end are attached together at corners of non-brocaded ends with knotted tassels of red and white wool and white cotton. Brocaded ends have the following pattern: wide black band with undulating white traingles; green band; black band with three pairs of narrow vertical white lines; blue band; black band; wide green band with two diamonds of red and white traingles outlined in black and separated from each other by three pair of narrow vertical lines with hooked ends; black band; blue band; black band with three pairs of narrow white vertical lines; green ban[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
