Object Description
Fragmentary fine interlocking tapestry - horizontal rows of brown geometric design on rose-red ground alternated with human heads with puma heads on headdresses and protruding tounges; multi-colored on deep cream ground: Tunic; Horizontal rows of "feather"(?) design alternating brown on red or red on brown; alternate with human heads with puma heads emanating from headdresses, and mouths; multicolored on deep cream ground. Later over-stitching in green on weft edges (not selvages). Warp: 16 epcm. Weft: 41 epcm.
Mantle/tunic (two woven panel widths*) is 53-54 cm in warp direction x 191 cm in weft direction; finely interlocked tapestry (weft faced plain weave. Panels are joined across the length (warp to warp); the facing left side is joined with by a figure-8 stitch in brown camelid yarn. See technical analysis under conservation report
