Object Description
Carved wooden model canoe for mixing red paint (jifoi)
The wood canoe model is decoratively carved in geometric design below the gunwhales but not on the underside. A stylized human head is carved at the top of the object. It has deeply cut brow and eyes, with nose pierced and mouth open. Both cheeks have single chevron design cut into the wood; the ears protrude. The head has remnant white pigment applied to the surface. The long trough of the canoe has remnant red paint on the interior surfaces.
