Object Description
Shoulder poncho (esclavina) composed of 1-1 plainweave rectangles of red, dark green, gold, black, tan camelid (z-2s). Each rectangle is bordered w/stem-stitch embroidery depicting birds, monkeys, and a narrow edge of cross-knit looping; rectangles joined patchwork style, leaving neck slit to form small poncho; neck, outer edge embroidered w/broad band of birds repeated in various colors. Edge of cross-knit looping & short knobbed fringe complete elaborate border. Weaving, embroidery quality varies greatly.
