Object Description
Two Grey Hills rug, central field of brown-gray with two stepped diamonds of gray outlined in white and in black, with small black zigzag flags at outside corners of steps; inside each diamond is a white cross figure containing central brown rectangle with narrow lines extending to each side. In each corner of brown-gray field is a gray stepped triangle outlined in black with small flags at corners, and at center of sides a matching gray stepped half diamond. Spirit line, light weft line from central brown-gray field through outer border. Border: white inner band and black outer band meeting in a zigzag at sides and straight line at top and bottom. Warp: white wool; wefts: white, brown-gray, gray, black wool, augmented. Selvages: very finely spun 2-ply black cords added[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
