Object Description
Rug. Imitation of Navajo third phase chiefs blanket, India, 1980s. Tapestry weave in white, black, red, blue and maroon s-spun commericially porcessed aniline-dyed wool. Very typical third-phase chief's pattern with each half having a total of three broad white horizontal bands alternating with two black horizontal bands. At the top and bottom there is a broad black band with two small red lines in the center with this pattern repeated in the the center with the broad black band and a total of six small red stripes. Large stepped and concentric diamond in center in red, blue, black and red with half-diamonds in center of each side and end. End half diamond are stepped serrated red, white and black with red interiors and half-stepped diamonds in center of sides are red, maroo[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
