Descriptions
Object Description Grass cloth cap, Knotted cap of grass or other vegetal fiber. Cap is constructed in a spiral orientation (clockwise) from top center down to the sides and lower edge. Cap's crown is completed in open and closed slipknot stithes for 9 cm diameter. The sides are formed by a knotting technique that is very tight and regular; small zigzag lines and lozenge shaped motifs are formed by looping and raised knots by wrapping. These motifs are structurally integral to the cap. Eight lozenges appear at upper area with zigzag lines alternating up or down. The second pattern area is completed with some lozenges set as pairs (see photographs). The finely spun (2 ply Z) fiber cord may possibly be a grass fiber or leaf fiber.
