Object Description
Wampum belt. Composed of purple wampum beads with a design of 4 groups of 3 diamonds sewn in white beads. The beads have a uniform size of 5 mm long by 3 mm in diameter. Traces of red paint can be seen on the beads indicating that the belt was probably used to declare war at some point in its history. Wampum was used as money in the past but now is used only for ceremonial purposes.
