Object Description
Wampum wrist ornament. Tapers from 18.5 cm long at the 'top' to 14 cm long at the 'bottom'; 13.5 cm wide. Composed of purple wampum beads with a series of diamond shaped motifs of white beads in a V-shaped pattern. Beads are a uniform 7 mm long by 4 mm in diameter. In places some of the beads are missing. There is a small metal cross attached to one of the thongs on the side of the specimen indicating that, at some point, it was owned by a Christian. Whether this person was a white man or a converted Native is uncertain.
