Object Description
Plaited wood-splint basket with squared bottom, constricted neck, and flaring, circular rim. Structure is 1/1 interlacing. Warp elements are wide, alternating natural tan and brown; weft elements mostly alternate thin orange with medium-width tan, but there are some stripes at neck and bottom consisting of 7 thin red elements surrounded at top and bottom by 2 wider brown and 1 wide tan element. Rim reinforced on each side with thicker wood splint, attached by coiling. Dyed with walnut (brown) and yellow root. Dimensions: 21 cm H x 25 cm rim diameter; bottom approx. 20 cm square.
