Object Description
Twill-plaited rectangular basket of cane splints with wood rim, probably white oak. Warp elements black/dark brown; weft elements mostly orange, but with dark brown and tan elements at top and bottom of sides. Bottom plaited in 3/3 straight twill, sides in diamond (return twill) pattern. Rim reinforced by 2 natural wood elements, attached by coiling, and topped with coiled splint colored dark brown. Dyes probably include walnut and bloodroot. Dimensions 12 x 32.5 x 24 cm (H x W x D).
