Object Description
Lau'a, tapa in process of manufacture. A light weight, diaphanous, finely pounded cloth from a single layer of off-white colored inner bark. The grain directions of the cloth is parallel to the length of the cloth. Two of the four edges retain their original pound edge finish, while the remaining two have cut edges. Manufacture related crease lines are present. Many natural branch related holes occur throughout. Identifying number: Peabody Museum catalogue in black appears along one edge.
