Object Description
Written on board: "The Mastadon and Human Skull. / Peat meadow on the farm of Mr. William U. Maynard of Northboro Mass, where the bones of a Mastadon and a Human Skull were found. The ditch runs nearly North and South; is 11 feet in length, 6 feet wide and from 5 to 10 feet in depth, with two cross cuts 20 feet long on the East and West sides, parallel with the ditch and 7 feet wide. The view is taken looking about North-east. The Mastadon bones were found in the side ditch on the East; the human skull in the side ditch on the West which scarcely shows in the picture. The remains are in the Museum of the Natural History Society, Worcester Mass.
