Written on board: "Serpent Mound Park, Adams Co., Ohio. / Peabody Museum Amer. Archaeology and Ethnology. Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. / John Cone Kimball, Photographer, 1887. / 22 -- The large Burial-mound between the Serpent and the spring. View taken from the south. / The mound is 9ft. high (originally a foot or two higher, as it has been ploughed over) and 71 ft. in diameter."
