Object Description
Written on board: Oaxaca, Zapotec. Cat. No. C/3038 / The Jaguar God (Dios Tigre) / Height: 7". Color: Light brown ceramic with vestiges of white overwash. Originally collected "through the influence of Father Fisher, Private Secretary to Emperor Maximillian. Acquired by the Museum in 1901 by purchase from Mary Wise of Lexington, Kentucky. For discussion of this category, see Caso & Bernal's "Urnas de Oaxaca", 1952, 54. Note: 1. The unusual posture for the Jaguar God. 2. The distinctive necklace. 3.
