Written on board: Seri / Mexico / E.F.C. 1940, Maria Ana, "Seri," Tiburon Mexico / "Maria Ana" - Seri. Mother painted her face; whitened it first with coat of gypsum; lower marks on face much like Navajo signs for rain. The first child that ever posed for me who showed no signs of embarassment. Waist masterpiece of patches. Kino Bay, Mexico, 1940.
