Object Description
Woven ceremonial dance kilt - red figure in center represents rain clouds and falling rain. Plain weave handspun cotton Pueblo Dance kilt, 1892, with embroidered green, black (4-ply), and red s-spun wool. Embroidery pattern on each side from bottom to top as follows: *wide black horizontal band with two samller sections, one of seven red vertical stripes separated by white, placed under an inverted black stepped traingle outlined in white on a field of red (rain and clouds). Then two green horizontal bands separated by a black band (fields). Pattern repeats once from *. Entire pattern interrupted on innner edge by two thin vertical white lines.
