Object Description
Woven ceremonial dance kilt - red figure in center represents rain clouds and falling rain. Handspun cotton Pueblo Dance kilt, 1892, with emboridery in green, black (4-ply), and red s-spun wool, with black z-spun single-ply wool plaited onto bottom edge. Embroidered pattern on each side as follows (bottom to top): *wide black horizontal band with two smaller sections, four red vertical bands separated by white bands underneath inverted black stepped triangle outlined in white on a field of red (storm clouds and rain). Above black band are two green horizontal bands separated by a black band (fields). Pattern repeats once from *. Inner edge of embroidery is interrupted by two thin white vertical lines and has a serrated hooked edge.
