Object Description Knotted scarf of cotton - worn about the waist by the Katcinas and others in sacred dances and ceremonials. Hopi rain sash, finger-woven of white 2-ply s-spun cotton. Two fringed segments are attached a the middle. Each fringed end has been divided into numerous smaller finger-woven sections. These sections are pulled through rings made of cottom-wrapped corn husks, knotted and then twisted to form a fringe. Length: 246 cm, Width: 17 cm; Depth: .4 cm. Excellent structural condition, but cotton is yellowed with age and there are stains and soiling at ends of fringe and on body of sash.
