Double-faced plaited and twined rectangular cedar carrying basket with handles

Object Description
Carrying basket. Interior face is 1/1 cedar plaiting; outer face alternates plaited bands and twined bands of natural background with "false embroidery". Primary designs occur in black on the center twined band and depict on one side a long whaling canoe with whalers wearing red hats, on the other three flying geese, and on the ends an animal (deer or dog?) lying down. The upper band of twining depicts a green line with a purple strand wrapped around it, while the lower depicts a grey strand with a red strand wrapped around it. Alternating bands of the outer face are of 1/1 cedar plaiting with supplementary colored wefts in natural, blue, and yellow grass. The handles are of natural braided grass.
