Object Description
Straw hat, one of 3. Small hat has a circular base with a quadrangular top in natural and dark brown/black dyed plant fiber strips. Top and upper sides of hat are plaited in a 2/2 twill pattern with undyed narrow strips, followed by a narrow region of twining with 3 strands of a very fine natural colored S twisted cord and 3 black strands (that create narrow alternating vertical stripes in natural and black). The remaining sides of the hat are completed with full turn twining with paired undyed vertical elements from top, and horizontal elements of natural and dark brown/black twined to create horizontal bands of black or natural. The natural colored vertical elements are bent back at the lower edge upward into the interior of the hat.
