Descriptions
Object Description Fiber hat, one of three. This small hat has a circular base and a quadrangular top with pushed-in corners. A plaited 2/2 twill in natural undyed yellow and grey dyed fine plant fiber strips (0.15 - 0.3cm in width) is seen on the top and extends partway down the sides of the hat. The grey elements form a cross extending from rim to rim, with a solid grey center at the crossing and radiating chevrons to the shoulder. As the plaiting curves down to the sides of the hat, grey wefts are used to create a 2/1 and 5/1 diamond and cheveron twill pattern in a band 5cm wide. Below this band the hat becomes circular, and warps and wefts no longer alternate. Vertical warps are formed from paired strips coming down from the top of the hat, connected to rigid wefts behind them by full[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
