Object Description
Coiled circular plaque with hanger at top. Black turtle with yellow shell at center against natural background. Alternating yellow and red triangles outlined in black around rim, which is finished in regular stitch in black. Made of thick and soft grass or yucca bundles sewn with yucca fiber dyed in aniline or vegetal dyes. Woven by Grisella Soufki. Plaque won third prize in 1971 at the Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup, New Mexico.
