Object Description
Large coiled olla basket. Design, against a natural background, consists of two Heheyas and two Crow Mother full figured kachinas in black, natural, yellow, and rust. The two Heheyas have protruding eyes, mouths, and hair and hold protruding ropes. The kachinas are separated from each other by a total of four different colored ears of corn ( yellow, natural, rust, and black). A terraced pattern in yellow and black encircles basket at base. Rim is finished in regular stitch in black. Made of thick and soft grass or yucca bundles sewn with yucca fiber dyed in aniline or vegetal dyes. .
One red ribbon with basket for first prize at the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial, Gallup, New Mexico, 1972. Also one burgandy and one orange ribbon from same competion, both for "Best of Class". (See Conservation condition notes on ribbon)
