Object Description
Coal Mine Mesa rug. Raised outline technique. Background of brown and white vertical beading with a central serrated squash blossom figure in gray and brown vertical beading with smaller squash blossom figures in gold and brown vertical beading in field above and below and two half squash blossom figures in gold and brown vertical beading at each side; all with raised outline trim. Border: black band top and bottom only. Warp: white, gold-brown and light brown wool; wefts: white, browns, golds, gray natural and aniline dyed wool. Selvages: weft wrapped around outer warp at sides; 2-ply gold cords added in at top and bottom.
Warp direction 141 x weft direction 68 x depth .3 cm, plus 5-6 cm tassels at each corner.
Small paper tag, written in pencil: "Coal Mine Mesa R13 27 x 54 1/2"
