Object Description
Gallup throw or rug with squash blossom and stripes. Central white panel with central red squash blossom, enclosing brown diamond, the top and bottom of blossom extending in narrow stripe to each side edge. Above and below bands of brown, red, brown stripes, and bands of black, red, black stripes, and then bands of red, brown, red stripes, all separated by white stripes. Border band of white at top and bottom. Warp: white plied cotton; wefts: white, brown, red and black wool, aniline dyed. Selvages: wefts wrapped around outer warps at sides, 2-ply white cords added in at top and bottom; warps tied to form 2.5-5 cm fringe at one end. Very nubby yarn.
Warp direction 51.5 plus 3.5-4 cm fringe one end x weft direction 26 x depth .5 cm, plus 5 cm tassels each corner.
