Object Description
Banded saddle blanket or rug. Six bands of three red stripes separating two stripes of alternating connected black and gray lozenges; these bands alternate with five bands with a central white band outlined in black with brown bands above and below it. Warp: white natural handspun wool; wefts: white natural handspun wool, black natural handspun wool, augmented, gray natural handspun black and white wool carded together, red and brown natural handspun wool, aniline dyed. Selvages: weft wrapped around at sides, 3-ply brown cords added in at top and bottom.
Warp direction 160 x weft direction 84 x depth .4 cm, plus 9-13 cm tassels each corner.
Small paper tag, written in ink: "C' R11" on both sides written in pencil: "double saddle blanket 33 x 62" on one side
