Object Description
Diamond twill saddle blanket or rug. Red background with bands of diamond twill and bands with narrow stripes. Bands at center, top and bottom consist of center stripe of orange-black-red diamond twill on red band with border of white, black and green narrow stripes above and below; the bands between have two slightly wider bands of black-green-orange diamond twill on red band, with a narrow band of orange and green stripes separating them. Border: band of red at top and bottom. Warp: white plied cotton?; wefts: white wool, black wool augmented, red , orange wool aniline dyed, green commercial plied Germantown wool. Selvages: 3-ply red cords added in all four edges. Corner tassels once augmented with red, black and yellow cords.
