Object Description
Banded blanket by Elmer Sequaptewa. Seven bands with blue center stripe between two white stripes, bordered by stripes of black and white beading, alternating with six matching bands with darker blue stripes, the bands separated by fourteen narrow gray bands, ending with gray band at top and bottom. Border; narrow black outer band at top and bottom. Warp: white natural wool; wefts: white natural wool, gray wool, black wool augmented, blue wool (tag indicates indigo dyed). Selvages: 2-ply black and 2-ply white cords added in at sides, 2-ply white cords added in top and bottom. Warp direction 154.5 x weft direction 90 x depth .5 cm, plus 10-12 cm tassels each corner, braided, tied, 1 cm loose. Pencil tag, written in pencil: "Hopi Striped blanket we.
