Object Description
Classic revival rug with design of half of a biil dress by Zonnie Gilmore. Central panel is black band with five red Spider Woman crosses, and bands of red, black, red, gray and red above and below, the black background meeting the top and bottom red panels in a terraced line outlined in white. Two panels at top and bottom have red background with five similar black crosses, and are bordered by the terraced white outline of center panel and a similar terraced white outline of the black border band at top and bottom. Warp: white wool; wefts: red, black, white and gray processed wool, aniline dyed. Selvages: 2-ply coral cords added in all four edges. Warp direction 102 x weft direction 83 x depth .3 cm, plus 16-19 cm tassels each corner. Probably from Hubbell's Tradin[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
