Object Description
Classic revival rug with Moqui pattern. Background of narrow gray and white stripes with two concentric stepped diamond forms in red, black and white, enclosing cross figures in red with white center square, across center of rug; above and below these diamond forms one central and two half concentric stepped outline diamonds of white, black and. Border: red band at top and bottom, with edge rows of stitches over 2 warps for .25 cm. Warp: white wool; wefts: gray, red, black and white natural and aniline dyed wool. Selvages: 2-ply red cords added in all four edges. Warp direction 151.5 x weft direction 94 x depth .4 cm, plus 8-10 cm tassels each corner.
Round cardboard metal edged tag, written in pencil: "Ganado 37 x 59"
Probably from Hubbell's Trading Post as an example of classic revival weaving.
