Object Description
Ganado rug, made by Alice Brown in 1983. Red background with a central concentric diamond, a gray-brown serrated diamond outlined in white, then a gray, a gray-brown, and a lighter gray serrated diamond also outlined in white; there is a gray stepped triangle, outlined with a slightly wider band of white, in each corner. Border: black band on all four edges. Warp: white wool; wefts: red, grays, white, black natural and aniline dyed wool. Selvages: 2-ply brown-black cords added in on all four edges.
Warp direction 94.5 x weft direction 68.5 x depth .5 cm, plus 7 cm tassels at each corner.
Paper tag, written in pencil: "Ganado by Alice Brown 83. 27 x 37"
