Object Description
Chinle rug. Ganado colors: gray background with two wide gray bands with five stacked serrated connected triangles in modified "butterfly" motif with black bands edged by white lines and widely-spaced white triangles above and below white lines; these bands are separated by a center band with border of narrow black bands with white line with triangles enclosing a gray band with four small white diamonds, and two other bands are of red with a black stripe with attached black triangles; there is a wide gray band at each end. Warp: white wool; weft: red, black, gray, and white natural and aniline dyed wool. Selvages: 2-ply gray cords added in each corner. Warp direction 103 x weft direction 74 x depth .4 cm, plus 8 cm tassels each corner, braided 3 cm, tied, rest loose.[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
