Descriptions
Object Description Carved wood mask with black and white painted stylized face with woven grass spheres on the top of the head and one sphere suspended fron the chin; grass net head piece. Mask. Typical example of a kasangu mask of the Sala Mpasu's Ibuku society with a swelling forehead, deeply set eyes, broad triangular nose and a rectangular mouth with two rows of sharpened teeth. The mask has a headdress composed of balls of woven split cane attached with a twined plant fiber netting. A plaited plant fiber beard with a single woven split cane ball is attached to the chin.
