Display Title Kapa
Descriptions
Object Description Stamped kapa; probably a sample cut from a larger whole --perhaps the kilohana layer of a kapa moe; pairs of small circular (sewing?) holes at intervals along one long edge; a light weight cloth of finely pounded light brown inner bark fibers; fibers well macerated and enmeshed; manufacture related fold lines traverse the narrow dimension of the cloth; three edges of the cloth are cut, while one long edge (the one with the "sewing" holes) retains a natural pounded edge finish; the cloth is "watermarked" throughout with linear beater impressions; one side is decorated by stamping; patterned stripes and scattered pairs of patterned diamond motifs applied in an opaque matte black colorant; stripes appear to have been created by repeating the stamp used for the individual diamond motifs.
Inventory Description Tapa, rectangular fragment, buff with double diamond and linear black designs
