Object Description
Rio Grande blanket with banded layout. Light maroon, deep rose, gold-orange, dark brown and cream z-spun weft and tan and dark brown z-spun 2 2-ply wool. Blanket has been woven on narrow loom in 2 pieces and joined in middle. Deep rose background, stripes of gold-orange, light maroon, with four bands of cream with narrwo dark brown stripe each side. Fringe at top and bottom. Side selvages: weft woven over two sets double warp and wrapped around the third double warp. Top and bottom the warp ends are tied to create fringe. Length: 183 cm; Width: 137 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 3 ends/cm; Weft -- 12 to 14 ends/cm.
