Descriptions
Object Description Small Navajo upright loom with unfinished textile. Loom: Upper and lower yarn beams made of wood/branches carved smooth. Bottom also has additional narrow branch attached. Narrow branch used as single heddle. Also includes flat carved batten stick. Length: 42.5 cm; Width: 43.5 cm; Depth: 2.5 cm. Excellent condition. Textile: Tapestry weave in black, orange, blue, red and white s-spun 4-ply wool. Pattern as follows: Black band on bottom, orange band, alternating bands of blue and red stepped triangles and white and orange stepped triangles. Border cord used at bottom and top of warp. Length: 28.5 cm; Width: 35 cm; Depth: .3 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 5 ends/cm; Weft -- 14 ends/cm. Excellent condition.
