Object Description
Small rug on loom, diamond twill. Loom: Carved upper and lower yarn beams, both with cotton cords onto which warp is secured. One shed rod near top made of narrow branch, and three heddles made of narrow twigs/branches with cotton loops attached. Also a carved batten stick. Length: 67 cm; Width: 53 cm; Depth: 2.3 cm. Excellent condtion. Textile: Black, white and gray z-spun wool in diamond weave pattern. Border cords of plied gray and white wool are used on side selvages. Length: 47 cm; Width: 45 cm; Depth: 1 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 3 ends/cm; Weft -- 3 ends/cm. Excellent condition.
