Object Description
Comb, horn, tapered & perforated at one end, 7 tines. Small Navajo upright loom with unfinished textile, 1892. Loom: Upper and lower yarn beams of carved sticks. Plied wool cord used to attach warp to yarn beams. Small shed rod made of thin twig/branch. One heddle with plied wool loops. Small fork-style beater. Excellent condition. Length 53 cm; Width: 58.5 cm; Depth: 2.5 cm. Textile: Tapestry weave red, white, blue, orange and green s-spun 4-ply wool on white z-spun single-ply wool warp. In center is concentric diamond of serrated blue, white and green with a red center at center of which is an orange and blue cross. Around diamond are blue and white double combs. One side edge has green continuous comb with white edge. The other side has orange continuous comb with blue ed[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
