Descriptions
Object Description
Beaded band with human and rabbit figures. Executed in glass seed beads completely covering its fabric ground cloth. It is the shape of a wide belt but probably intended as a hanging decorative piece. It is 132 cm long and a uniform 13 cm wide. A 5 cm long beaded loop for hanging is attached to the center of the square upper end and the opposite end is rounded. The lining material is a patchwork of hand-woven striped cottons with dark overdye. Brown cloth binding is stitched around all edges and cowrie shells are sewn to this at intervals of approximately 2 cm. Figures composed in a series are completely covered in a sewn technique of flat lines of beads which change directions in adjacent sections. Facial features are raised with padding beneath.
