Object Description
Twined rectangular wallet/purse, with outer layer of natural corn husk decorated by multi-colored "false embroidery" in wool or acrylic yarns. Lined with cotton print fabric; edges of flap covered with green ribbon or edge binding. Vertical leather thong handle on back, probably so purse could be worn on belt. Two leather thong ties at bottom of purse. Three different geometric designs, made up primarily of rectangles and triangles, decorate back, front, and flap of purse. Flap has two rows of two stepped diamonds in greens, red, orange, pink, and maroon; front of purse focuses on a jagged-edged diamond, with colors including turquoise, light green, red, pink, and brown; back of purse has three rows of arrow motifs in green, blue, and brown.
Dimensions: height (with flap closed) = 11.5 cm, max. width = 14 cm, depth = 1.5 cm.
