Object Description
Sioux hide rectangular storage bag from early 1900s, constructed of 2 major pieces. The front is decorated with beadwork. The back portion is undecorated, extending into a fold-over closure for the top opening. On the right side a 2 cm strip is sewn from top to bottom of the front section to enlarge that dimension, producing two seams on that side. All seams are sewn with sinew. There are thong ties 18-22 cm long on the lower corners inside the flap, and at the center of the top front (13 cm long). A beaded panel measuring 19.5 cm in height has a solid white background supporting designs across the width of the front. The beadwork is in lazy stitch on sinew.
