Descriptions
Transcribed Annotations Written on board: "Bushmen / Gift of Dr. Bene Van Rippen. / January 1918 / See Over / (verso) Three Bushmen residing on the shores of Lake Chryssie / Eastern Transvaal. / The two standing in front are Father and Son ages about / Seventy and forth respectively. / The third one, standing last in line, is by the other two considered / a Bushman and believes himself to be one. They all speak the / Bushman language. Personally I do not believe this third man / to b a pure Bushman for the following reasons. / 1. He is large and a bid darker of color. / 2. Has a acquiline nose and his jaw is prognatheous. / 3. The ears are larger / 4. The hair is longer and not "peppercorn" unlike the other two. / Photographed at Lake Chryssie August 1917. / by Bene van Rippen D.M.D. / (continued in remarks)"
