Object Description
Banded pound blanket or rug of z-spun natural and aniline-dyed handspun wool. Oversized. Tapestry weave. Six very broad horizontal bands separated from each other by a total of five black horizontal bands with two red interior bands each. The center black bands also have yellow outlining on the top and bottom. The two red interior bands are thicker, with black and orange "railroad track" decoration at top and bottom. Red aniline wool is stitiched onto selvage on ends only. Side selvages left as woven. Length: 254 cm, Width: 141 cm, depth: .8cm. Tassels of 7 cm are at 3 of the corners. Thread count: 2 ends/cm warp, 4 ends/cm weft. The blanket is in excellent condition aside from one stain near the middle.
